Memo to shippers: Do you know where your container is?
Even that relatively simple question is often tough to answer. Now throw in the additional requirements for achieving true supply-chain visibility: knowing what’s in the container, and the minute-to-minute condition of the contents. These pieces of data have been promised to shippers for decades, but actual end-to-end tracing and visibility is still a dream for many. On this episode, we track the progress of supply-chain visibility with Cindy Elliott, global lead for manufacturing and supply chain industry with Esri, a provider of geographic mapping software and location intelligence. She explains why visibility has proved such a huge challenge to bring about, as well as the changes we’ve seen in recent years that might finally be making it possible. How close are we to the goal of replacing inventory with information? Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
