Most of us fashion ourselves as rational beings, willing to change our minds when presented with facts that contradict our position. What a lovely fantasy. The truth is that we often hold opinions based on anything but logic and facts. Changing someone’s mind, no matter how compelling your argument, is an uphill battle. On this episode we learn about the techniques of persuasion from Juliet Huck, founder of — appropriately enough — The Academy of Persuasion. She discusses her work in the boardroom and courtroom, most recently in the nation’s first virtual patent trial, involving the intellectual property of Cisco Systems, Inc. Are we rational beings? Hardly. But maybe there’s hope for us all. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
