Coulomb Solutions Inc. (CSI), a provider of electrification technology for commercial vehicles, announced May 1 that it will be establishing a manufacturing facility in the United States to assemble commercial vehicle battery packs.
CSI said that it is considering three states to house the facility: Arizona, Nevada and Texas. The company expects to finalize its site selection process by early summer 2023.
The new facility will produce battery packs specifically designed for U.S. commercial vehicles with lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery cells provided by manufacturer CATL.
The plant will be able to produce up to 4.2 GWh per year and will further expand the capacity of the United States’ commercial electric vehicle industry. Additionally, the facility is expected to create more than 300 jobs when completed.
"CSI's new EV battery pack assembly facility will give U.S. commercial vehicle manufacturers a ‘Made in America’ battery system using the world's most proven cutting-edge LFP cells," said David Mazaika, CEO of CSI. "The new U.S. production will cut our lead time in half, which supports CSI's goal to enable the rapid adoption of electric drive systems in commercial vehicles."
