The Danish shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk announced February 7 that it had partnered with the apparel company PUMA to establish a new distribution center in Chile. A.P. Moller-Maersk said that the Santiago-based facility will be the organization’s first semi-automated omnichannel fulfillment distribution center.
Maersk added that its warehousing and distribution tools will help PUMA with supply chain visibility from its factories in the APAC (Asia-Pacific) region to its distribution center in the capital of Chile. This includes access to Maersk’s cloud-based warehouse management system (WMS), which will be integrated into PUMA’s operations, providing the company with real-time reports on order processing and stocking.
“At PUMA, we are committed to Chile and to sport. We are here to stay, to continue growing, and we can only do so if we are 'Forever Faster.' We must be the most agile and flexible to reach first,” said Anibal Castro, the managing director of PUMA in Chile and Peru. “This is where we will have the full support of a strategic partner like Maersk. Having Maersk as a strategic partner allows us to control our entire supply chain process, from factories to our stores. Furthermore, encountering a company with values similar to ours, where people always come first and where we feel passion for what we do every day, is where we have much in common as enterprises.”
Maersk said that it has spent the last 20 years developing a strategic partnership with PUMA, supplying the company with access to logistics tools and end-to-end supply chain visibility features.
